Subject: what has the london marathon have to offer that boston can not?

u have the likes of paul tergat of kenya the winner of last year's new york
city marathon, haile gebrselassie of ethiopia one of the greatest long
distance runners ever, 2004 olympic champion stefano baldini of italy,
hendrick ramaala of south africa who finished 2nd in one of the closest new
york city marathon finishes last year and last but not least the return
after a 2 year absence due to foot injuries the american and first sub 2:06
marathoner khalid khannouchi. plus throw in paula radcilff for good
measure. now that is a steller field. why can't boston land a couple of
these top flight marathoners? are the boston race organizers simply too
cheep? or could it be that london offers the opportunity for a WR where as
boston does not?
now does anyone know whether this race will be broadcast here in the states
even as a highlight package? i am also curious to see how khannouchi is
going to do after a 2 year lay off? can he be competitive with the likes of
tergat and geb? i hope he has finally wised up and gotten a coach instead of
having his wife coaching him.

I've assumed the WR-potential course is part of it. But yeah, it could be
interesting to know what the differences are in appearance fees.

And like it or not, despite its priviledged position in American marathoning
past and present, on the world stage Boston is less celebrated than either
Chicago or New York.

Yeah that's what I'd like to know too! If not TV, maybe a webcast? And
yes, aside from the sheer amount of star power, so many interesting stories
like how will KK do, does Geb have enough marathon experience yet to allow
him to stay with Tergat (or indeed, even challenge the WR?), does Tergat
have another stellar marathon left in him, will Baldini be tackled by a
crazed Anglican priest?
