Subject: thank you to the people who give good well thought out responses

I appreciate all the help I have received in this group from
experienced and knowledgeable people. Too bad 95 percent of people are
complete parasites and dont even ask questions. Of the 5 percent that
actually post, most ask parasitic questions and never say thank you. I
hope someday all these parasites die of cancer or whatever. Fuck you
parasites. And yes I am a parasite in this group but I consider myself
in top 1 percent of posters on subjects such as finance, electronics,
car repairs, tax, etc..

Sorry you feel that way about others that do not post. Those lurkers
may only read the groups, but are a necessary part of the group. Far
from being parasites, they provide the reason for a group like this to
have wide distribution among newsgroup servers. Possibly you are able
to read this group because enough others have subscribed through your
news provider.
Also, it is suggested for people to read a newsgroup for a month or so
(ie to lurk) before posting. It is the best way to find out the culture
of the group. Some groups are a little loose with how on-topic posts
are. Some are more strict and react quickly to off topic threads.
rec.running falls more on the loose side. So lurking is not a bad
thing.

Actually rec.running gets more thank you posts than many of the
technical groups I regularly visit. That's just the nature of usenet.

"someday"!
I do have to say, I think this is the first time I ever saw anyone
complain about lurkers!
