Well, I finally had to come to grips with the fact that I really have hurt my knee. As I posted before I was having some pain, but a days rest seemed to be ok. Well last week I really did it. I was playing b-ball during lunch and took a jump shot and I was done. It felt like someone drove a nail through my lower knee. I couldn't go up or down stairs for a couple days. Of course I iced it regularly and I work a desk job so I get plenty of rest. My concern is that I am going to lose strength in my legs while I rest this (i'm giving it a couple weeks, and then I will try a couple jog/walks). I know i can maintain my upper body strength with weight training, but I am worried about my lower body. Also I would like to strenthen the area around my knee without causing to much pain ( I think this is the root cause of the knee pain. I running a recovery run after a track workout and steped funny. After that recovery run is when it started to hurt). I am looking for some exercises that will help with this. I do have access to weights and even some rubber bands that my wife has for her tybo stuff. Unfortunatly, easy access to a pool is not in the works, or I would be using a pool for sure. If anyone has any good ideas I would love to use them. Thanks John

John, A common runner's problem is a weakened quad that permits the knee cap excessive movement. I had it and it can be quite painful. My solution was to begin a regimen of single leg presses, with only a slight bend of the knee, with increasing weights. Soon the pain eased and eventually left completely. I have continued the exercise and have not have any problems. And just in case it isn't what's been diagnosed here, why not see a dor to find out just what your problem is? Maybe even some p.t. to give you correct targeted exercises? bj "BobB" <bobb001@comcast.net > wrote in message news:3ZWdnUAHdMvQkZvYnZ2dnUVZ_qudnZ2d@comcast.com... > John, > > A common runner's problem is a weakened quad that permits the knee cap > excessive movement.
