Subject: how help an achilles heel bone spur

I had some problem with my foot a few years ago. When they x-rayed it, it
showed a bone spur on the bacj of the heel where the achilles tendon
attaches. That wasn't where I had problems at the time so I disregarded it.
Now it is where I am having some soreness.

I am fairly new to running and am training for sprint triathlons. I think I
increased mileage too fast to cause this. I've stopped running but it is
sore even when I walk on it. How long do you ice it and take
anti-inflammatories before seeing a dor?

Will calf raises help prevent this once I am better?

Thanks in advance for you ideas.
