The shoe salesman says he won't sell me the Foundations. I am 5'8" and 155.
I run about 35 miles a week and do 2 marathons a year. Even wear on both
shoes (outside edge at the heel.)
I am getting a bit older - 59 in . I think I would benefit from more
cushioning.
I have run in the Asic 2110 series for about 8 years - 3 pair a year.
I have more aches and pains now.
So what's the problem with Foundation? I note that the Shoe Dog says its
for heavier runners.
Thanks.

Thanks for your support, Scott. You should always respect the advice of
your shoe salesman.

Wear on the outside edge of the heel is only half the puzzle. Where is
the wear on the front?

What makes you think you need more cushioning?

Maybe you do need a different shoe because of the aches and pains but
maybe more cushioning will make it worse. Did the salesmen watch you
walk or run? Do you supinate, pronate or are you neural. Until you know
this it's almost impossible to help you. Have you had problems for the
entier 8 years with the 2NNN line or just recently? Was all well until
the 2110's , the haven't been out for 8 years. :) What's the chance it
isn't the shoes at all?

It's not a cushioned shoe, it's a bloody 2x4 with uppers for big heavy
overpronators, like 200+ . If you are 155 I can see why he directed you
from the Foundation.

wear at the front end is under the ball of each foot.
Salesman didn't watch me walk or run.
I am neutral.
Last 3 marathons have been tough but not really foot related - exhaustion
from going out too quick and wearing too warm clothes - operator error.
The shoes are 2110's.
Shoe dog says the Foundation is for small to medium build with flat feet. I
don't have the flat feet.

Problem is that the legs get sore - probably just tired. So I am thinking
more cushioning might reduce the stress on the legs.

Anyway, thanks for the info.

PS. Didn't you once say that you had lived in Austin?

Nuetral sounds right.

Take a look at

http://www.asicsamerica.com/product.asp?PRODUCT_ID=240006065&TITLE_CATEGORY_ID=250001177&BACK_CATEGORY_ID=250001173

If above page in to long try http://www.asicsamerica.com/category.asp
and click on Foundation

It's not shoe for small to medium. It's more like the books beast. The
Nimbus or Cumulus (gotta love those clouds are more into cushioning.

Review your log if you keep one. Running more miles or different
terrain? Additional stress or not sleeping well?

I suffered once in Austin for a few days but in the state of Texas and
I'm not going back. :)

The best advice I can give you Scott applies to marriage and shoe
decisions.
"When in doubt, DON'T."

PS. Also, always try them on several times before committing.

Thanks for you help and advice. I'll stick with what I have (wife and
shoes.)
