Subject: anlkle and shin appear to be ok! (short race report)

The ankle and shin felt OK after taking Wednesday off and doing a workout on
an elliptical machine on Thursday.
I ran a very easy 5k on Friday on trails and had no pain in the ankler or
shin.

So I decided to go ahead and run the 4 mile race ( The Running Of The Green)
I had entered today. I actually surprised myself. I had expectations of sub
28 and end up breaking 27. No pains during and after and I felt pretty good
for most of the race.

splits - 1 - 6:36
2 - 6:42
3 - 6:53
4 - 6:40
Watch time - 26:51, Official time - 26:53
Far from a course PR (26:05) but not as far as off I thought I would be.

I had caught a number of people I know around mile 3 and decided to stay
behind them, bide my time
and wait to pick it up in the last mile, it turned out to be the right
stategy as I was able to pass them and hold them off over the last 400 to
800 meters.
If I can stay healthy and lose a few more pounds I may be back to where I
was in the Fall of 2004 quicker than I anticipated.

It's a beautiful day in the Northeast time to get out the bike.

My wife and another woman couldn't understand why the 2 mile mark was so
short at last year's Freihofer's Run for Women. I had to point out to them
that since it was an International field last year that the 2 mark they saw
denoted 2 kilometers, not 2 miles. I believe the miles were marked too.
