Congrats on McNaughton! I'll let you supply the gory details but looks
like you had a heck of a run on what must have been a brutal day. And if
you're feeling down about not doing negative splits, don't! I've never
done 'em and I still think they're hallucination's of Doug :-)

Thanks TR. Brutal. That's a good word for it. I think I could have
found an easier race for my first 50-miler. My legs have been sore for
3 days straight. Tonight I said the heck with it and went for a
4-miler. My legs felt like cement. Absolutely no spring in them.

I just looked at the race splits. Nobody did negative splits. Not even
those that walked the entire race.

I really want to do another 50M in 4 to 8 months. Any ideas?

Indeed, anyone's first 50 miler deserves congrats IMO! Awaiting your report
Phil. You're probably still in the ultra denial stage at this point, perhaps
agreeing with your wife and relatives that it was an insane idea. Heck,
after my unprepared for near-death experience in '02 at finger lakes 50's,
it took me 3 years to do my 2nd 50m, but in that time I kind of actually
became a runner again - and I don't rule out a late-season 50m this year.
After the Vermont 50m last year I was thinking "ok shit that was hard - been
there done that now" a little better than the first go around, so no more 50
milers for me, but now...
