I'd say Haile Satayin is a real-deal contender for the title of greatest 50+ runner. 20th in the 2004 olympic marathon. Cheers, -- Donovan Rebbechi http://pegasus.rutgers.edu/~elflord/

Donovan - Satain is a great runner, but his real age is around 44. Due to the difference in the Ethiopian calendar ( their year is 7 years difference from ours), there was a mixup when he emigrated from Ethiopia and his official year of birth was given as 1955. His real year of birth is 1962. Anthony.

lanceandrew@aol.com wrote: > Your post is old news on this forum that we've all discussed. My post > was nothing more than republishing content Yahoo published _today_, > that's all. How exactly did I "spout off"? 1. You claimed Wolfgang Schwerk had made up his own event; the truth is that this was the tenth edition of the 3100-mile race set up by the Sri Chimnoy Marathon Team. 2. You claimed he had tried to masquarade a press release as news; the truth is that the press release given out by Lanxess was clearly presented as one and that Yahoo had published it in its press releases section. 3. He claimed he had branded himself as the "World's Greatest Long Distance Runner"; the truth is that those were the words of the anonymous press release writer. 4. Last but probably least, you may have wanted to imply that he was somehow involved in an unethical business arrangement with Lanxess or at least one that was less ehtical or more hypocritical than athletes who wear their sponsors' shoes and apparel. This wasn't a good day at the office for you, so to speak - this was one of your weakest posts (with the worst content&argument/spin&spouting off-ratio). Besides, I would've expected you to feel that you've pretty much gnawed out this general subject by now. FWIW I'd rather read more and more detailed information about your training, about how your body and mind respond to it - and, in general, more about your own unimitable approach to running and racing and more about the things you like and love and less about the things you find hyped or overrated. Or at least something he knows about. His propaganda technique(ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause; also : a public action having such an effect) to create discussion grows old and make him foolish. One would think he would tire of that role. Rhetorical. -DF
