Subject: Where can I find a coach?

My knowledge about about running is limited to websites and books. I live in Atlanta. I ran the peachtree in 65 minutes (10k). I am 185 lbs. At present I am training to run the Marine Marathon and aiming to finish at 4;30.My interval run for this week wasare 10x800 @ 4:30 for every 800 and walking and jogging for 3 mins. I would like to increse my speed and finish a marathon in 3:30. Any idea where can I find a coach in Atlanta? Thank you for your suggestions.

Your 10K pace predicts close to a 4:30 marathon, but the marathon is a very different race. I suggest you plan doing at least one half marathon beforehand. Run your first marathon just for the thrill of it. meanwhile, before paying for a coach, find a running club in your area. You can get good feedback and find a lot of new friends. Some clubs do group runs for disctance, and also for intervals. You can learn more about when to use 800meter intervals versus 400m or 1600m intervals. There should be plenty of clubs in the Atlanta area. Ed
