Subject: What kind of injury is this?

x-no-archive:yes For the last 2-3 weeks I have something wrong in my leg. It hurts a little but not really bad in the area actually behind my knee. It is hard to duplicate and only hurts when I take a step. When running it hurts worse when I first start out but as I go farther it bothers me less. What can I do to get rid of it? Also, My times are coming down but I have noticed for some reason I am getting more tired quicker. But I also noticed if I slow down real slow or stop for a minute, then take off again I am full of energy again like I just started running. I found this out Friday when I decided to run the 5 k course for the race on ober 21. I had to stop for less than a minute to cross the street, etc. It was weird. Any more advice on decreaseing time and increasing stamina between now and then? Also, there is a smaller venue 5k this Saturday. Helpful to run it or not?

Judging by your post, I'd say it's a closed head injury.

Personally, I would avoid the temptation to stretch it. This can get much worse and fast. When it does, it's hard to even run on it. You can run with the injury, but only if you are getting paid the hour rather than the mile.

I've avoided it in recent years by correcting my form. In the short term, If I were in your shoes, I would take a day or two off at most and continue running after that at an easy pace until the race. I would also run in a different pair of shoes if there seemed any chance that footwear contributed to the injury. PS. From the tone of your other posts, you're just going at this too hard without any knowledge. Injuries are going to be more common for you. Join a club or find a few friends that have been running for years and try not to say too much.

x-no-archive:yes How did you correct your form? How do I tell if my form is ok? (I live by any runners I know of). I started having this problem while wearing old shoes. I bought new shoes just recently but still have the problem. Actually, I must be compensating somehow for the knee because my hip is hurting a little today.
