Subject: Veterans Day Running Thoughts

Today being Veterans Day got me thinking. During my 22 years in the
army, I hated to run, but it was part of my military duties, so I did
it. I was required to run, so I ran.

That antipathy to running lasted more than 23 years, but somehow, I lost
that dislike sometime this year. I can't say that I love running
(yet?), but I surely look forward to it. Sometimes I have to restrain
myself from running on my days off. I plan, after the Dec 2nd race, to
increase from three days a week to every other day; the downside of that
will be that I won't have two days off once a week. But if I feel that
I need an extra day off, I'll take it.

And to my fellow veterans here, I salute you.

How about stopping in at local Ameican Legion hall on a Friday night and
try this line.

*blush* Thanks. I don't know what happened after week 4, but
everything just seemed to come together seemingly overnight.

that's why patience is so critical in this game. Progress seldom occurs along a line,
it usually comes in little bumps -- critical breakthrough points. This will become even
more true as experience accumulates. The breakthroughs don't necessarily get smaller,
so much as less frequent.

Cheers,

Yesterday was "Hug A Hired Thug Day"?

They need a better ad agency.

I have a running friend named Don. He started running in the Army and
just kept running. He now has about 50years worth of running trophies,
plaques, and other memmorabilia. I saw Don the other day. He's finally
retired from races but not from running. I saw him running laps at the
local fitness center. I had just finished running the Turkey Trot. Don
is a great inspiration to me.

Thanks to all the veterans!
