You will remember I showed some interest in your Annapurna event when we met at the school bash in Eastbourne... Are your littluns still at the same school. Best, John (and Ruth)

Yes we are still at the same old school the only difference for me is that Nepal has become safe again so I am going back to organising races in the Himalayas. I am on the verge of restarting the Annapurna 100k but am kicking off with Lhasa and Everest as a warm up! Acclimatisation will be a natural part of getting to the start line. It is a downhill course pretty much so altitude sickness is minimal. No thanks. I enjoy running. I don't feel the compulsion to be in some strange land to do so.

This is a different event not as high as the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon which takes place on the anniversary of the ascent of Everest on May 29th. www.everestmarathon.com Cyling is a very good way of getting fit for this event. I must get back into cycling to work. My main worry for the event would be though that I'd break my neck on the descent if the footing's anywhere near what I've just been trekking through the past couple of weeks (Ladakh region of India).

The terrain is very similar to Ladah, icy in places with a couple of glacial morains to negotiate. Having said that you would obviously slow down at thos points. The only injury we have had so far is a twisted ankle (sustained on a dance floor in Kathmandu after the event!) > > I must get back into cycling to work. Back home, sitting in a bar, ankle in a cast - "What happened?" "Well, I was dancing in Kathmandu after my Everest marathon...", with a far-away look in the eye... -- __________________ -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com
