Hello, I have been using Nike Zoom Elite II for some time now. I am a mild pronator. While Nike is a good brand. I am certian that there are better more running oriented brands. eg, brooks, asics, mizuno What should i choose? I went to a shop today and a lady suggested Brooks Trance, she didnt even look at my arch. Yes these where the dearest shoes in the shop. and i dont think the best. Me: size 11 US, high arch, medium build, mild pronator. For jogging 5-10 ks and racing 5-22k's, surface is cement or road, no grass. Any trained suggestions? Thanks

I much prefer Brooks Adrenaline or Saucony Grid Omni (Moderate) or Mizuno Alchemy. If you know that you are a mild overpronator and you have a medium build, there's no reason for the woman at the store to look at your arch. In a real running shoe store (Fleet Feet, etc), they'd probably look at your stride and let you take a few laps outside to check the shoes out. Caveats: Try the shoes on with the socks you usually wear for running so you have the right thickness. And go to the store in the afternoon, when your feet have swelled. Otherwise, you might by shoes that fit perfect at the store only to find they're too tight when you go for a run. Good luck!

Other shoes I'd recommend that are similar to the Elite are Mizuno Elixir, and Asics DS Trainers. Cheers, -- Donovan Rebbechi http://pegasus.rutgers.edu/~elflord/

I am certian that there are > better more running oriented brands. eg, brooks, asics, mizuno Forget good or bad brands. There's good or bad shoe models. Specifically, good or bad shoes _for you_ (though of course some models are just bad universally or at least for most, e.g. because of horrible durability or an ill-positioned overlay which gives most runners a blister... and it's entirely possible that Nike makes the highest number of bad running shoes, but they also make quite a few seriously good ones.) What's motivating you to look beyond the Elite? Boredom? Curiosity? Looking for a lighter shoe for racing? A second shoe so you can rotate it with the Elite? Something else? > Me: size 11 US, high arch, medium build, mild pronator. High arch makes me think Fila. I've got a couple of their shoes - the Corsa Sette racing flat, and the Flow Redemption lightweight trainer. These two have the highest arches of anything I've ever tried on. After a few runs in the Redemption, the jury's still out on whether it's a bit too much or whether it and I will adapt to one another. If the family resemblance between these two models holds throughout Fila's line - and I'm not sure if it does, but the likelihood is why I mention Fila at all - you can expect a high arch, a very cushy ride, and a comfy upper with minimal overlays. The Corsa Sette is almost shockingly cushioned for a pretty light flat, and the Redemption is as soft a shoe as I'd ever want to run in. It's an LWT but if "normal" weight trainers are even more cushioned, I don't see how you could feel that your feet were making contact with the road. (Hmmm, maybe too-cushioned trainers is a factor in crappy running form: you can't tell what's going on down there, and you can get away with a lot of slop...) But those two are neutral shoes with no real pronation "correction". Looks like Fila has a handful of more stable shoes, see e.g. http://www.holabirdsports.com/cgi-bin/search?selection=menu&id=11&type=65&group=5&gender=2&manufact=137 http://www.runningwarehouse.com/catpage-MRSFILA.html
