Thisi was my first race in over 3 years. It feels really good to get
back into it. It was a great course, relatively flat through a nice
part of Golden Gate Park. It was cold!!! Well, not "Dot" cold, but at
40 degrees, that's plenty cold for this California girl. ;)

My time was 31:54
Slow, but a good time for my first race (I'm considering it my first,
since I felt like I started over a couple months ago).

I do know I started off too slow. I could have started a little faster,
but after the first mile, I sped up my running and got into the groove.

This was a nice first race, as it's small, with just a couple hundred
people, some I knew from a few years ago, most were new faces for me. I
look forward to running more races and getting more into 10Ks.

Not at all! In fact, I think this morning was colder than the outdoor
ice skating last night. Of course, it was clear today, that makes a
difference.

So I guess you guys didn't get the heat we got in the east. 70F today in
Atlanta.

A good effort for your first race comeback. Looking forward to hearing
about your 10Ks.

They're okay, as long as they're someone else's.

Probably close to 11 minutes or so. This old Ironman watch of man
doesn't like to do split times, it protests by re-setting the chron
when I try to do it. Need a new one.

Nice race. Any idea what the first mile split time was?

Ohio has been enjoying unusually warm weather. I ran today in shorts
and tee shirt. Wonderful in the middle of december.

Enjoy the run!

Congrats, Martha! GGP is sooo pretty, sounds nice. Yeah, 40F is
cold for me, too. Best of luck in the upcoming races, let us know
how it goes!

Don't you know, there are no slow runs as long as you show up.

Thanks! Yeah, I have to find a good pace to begin. This is really fun
to get back into everything!

As far as my watch goes, I can't afford a new one right now, but I will
get one in a couple of months. I don't like this old one anyway. The
buttons are too prominant and it's too easy to reset everything by
mistake.

Don't get a new watch yet, try a new battery. That is one of the
symptoms of a weak battery. But if you have done that, then it may be
the buttons have finally given out. That is how mine behaved before I
replaced it.

SO you did slightly under 10 minute pace for the other 2.1miles. That
is a good sign. Now next race don't get carried away and start too
fast. It is more fun starting slow and passing others later in the race
than it is to start too fast and have others passing you.
