Subject: CP come see one of DF's Ho's

Hey CP I just noticed that one of DF's Ho's is entered in the Hairy Gorilla.
I have two predictions, it's going to be a sloppy mess tommorow and Jacque
will kick my butt.

Gotta love the training tips for the site:

1. Be sure to run between now and the event.
2. Be sure to run on trails between now and the event.
3. Wear good trail shoes that offer mucho stability.
4. Come to ARE group runs.
5. If you live far away, fly to ARE group runs.
6. Join a Yoga class.
7. Become spirirtual.
8. Get in touch with your inner gorilla.
9. And the squirrel.
10. Enjoy life!

Pretty nasty down here in Manhattan....steady rain the last 10 hours or
so and 40 mph winds. I can imagine those rock & root surfaces are
going to be pretty slick if not dangerous.

In can't get a lasso around that girl. She is like the energizer bunny
but a healthier model. :) I don't know what your times are like but I
can assure you she will give it her best. Beware, she has screw shoes
and if your having the same rain that we are having here, it will be a
bit messy and she will have good traction.

Don't let 76 YO Busa dust you! ;) He is one of the nicest people and
you can't chisel the smile off his face.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the invite, Parker, but I'm seeing one of Charlie's Angels
instead (the redhead)... and though she may be the gorilla my dreams
(har har) she ain't no hairy ape.

Some day I will make it up your way for a race and pizza, or whatever
you recommend. And a beer or three.

Maybe we should all (Doug, Tony, Lance, Donovan, etc.) meet halfway in
Saugerties/Woodstock, there's probably more interesting ethnic food choices
there. We can run up and down some mountains and then we can stop at Zen
Mountain Monastery and Lance can do a guest lecture on "Zendurance" . After
that we can scout out a local brewpub. Maybe some locals such as Pat
Metheny, Jack DeJohnette, etc will be jamming there if we're lucky!

All bets are off for today, lots of mud and 40 mph gusts of wind. My biggest
concern is falling limbs or trees.

Lance is in luck they are constructing a new and very large building at
the Dharmachakra Buddhist Monastery. They say the new building is for
Dalai Lama to come and live.I'm beginning to think the new digs are for
Lance and the Dalai Lama is just a cover-up. I puff up with excitement
thinking I can rub Lance's BMI belly for good luck. ;)

We have some places to sip a brew and also some kinky food. After all,
it is Woodstock.

By the way I will be cranking up winter runs the first week in December.
The first 3 or 4 will be 11-15 miles in Dutchess County and then move
over to Ulster and play with longer hills. Jan 7 is a Fat Ass 50k in
Staatsburg made up of 10, 5k loops that we as a group run with each
person choosing some number of laps. I have run it all the last few
years but I always reserve the right to bail if I'm not up to completing
it without harming any parts.

Ah that's the beauty of trail races, you can't count on anything.

Yea I'm up for it - Woodstock for lunch after some laps up Overlook from the
Monestery - though next Spring not Fall/Winter. My legs are toast. I'll be
interested to see how Jacque runs there at the HG...

She got me by a few minutes., I was 2:05:06 (results say 2:06:06 but
somebody wrote it down wrong), she was 2:02:xx.
I got her bib number but I never figured out who she was so I didn't get to
introduce myself.
That was one of the toughest runs I've ever done, really slippery and
strong winds.

I got a note and she said it was a real bitch. After running the entire
Bull Run 50 the spring in nasty mud and some of the Vermont 50 this
fall in mud she said this was as nasty if not more in places. Anyway she
is nowhere close to your bride or Dana in speed but she is strong as
hell. I'd guess 5'7" maybe 5'8" and 135-140 and not much fat. She takes
what she has, never complains, other than my humor ;) and is really
getting good at gauging pace. She is only one of my winter ho's.
