Anybody running this?

Be sure to check out the updated security list about what you can & can't
carry!

I think they're going a little overboard, but it's their event & that's the
way they want to do it.

No HRMs. No water. No belts. No cell phones. At least it looks like you
can check those things at the Garment check -- initially they said
'garments only' and it seemed like you needed a non-participant to hold
onto anything else.

I'll see how it's handled. If they're any harder to deal with than the
TSA, then this will be both my 1st and last ATM.

Cheers,
Craig

I ran the ATM in 2003,04,05. 2005 was the year of the 11.2 mile
course. Someone freaked out when they saw a construction worker's
lunchbox (or something like that) that had been left out under the 14th
St bridge, and the whole event turned into a giant clusterf**k.

I was pretty disappointed in how the race organizers bungled things,
but mostly got over it after a while. Then, earlier this year, got an
interesting email from the organizers saying thanks for our patience
last year, and to ameliorate things a bit, they were going to knock $10
off the registration fee if you had run last year (this has always been
an expensive race). But only if you sign up right away!!!

What they didn't mention, and what you only found out after going a
page or two into the online signup process, is that they raised the
race fee by the same $10. Classic! These guys must have gone to a
management training school.

I won't miss this race. It's always been a somewhat fascist experience
anyway.
