I've been loving the past weeks weather, the nip in the air gets my motor running. I've also adopted a new philosophy which may be having an effect also, no hard workouts during the week if I'm racing on the weekend. I think I beat myself up too much during the week and don't have much left in the tank by the weekend. I've got a major race scheduled on Sunday ;), The 2nd annual Hairy Gorilla Half Trail 1/2 Marathon. I had a log layoff due to injury last year and ran 2:03. My last three races have been Sept 5 5k - 21:18, 7 miler (hilly) 55:15 , 5k 21:40 on 10/14 and 20:22 for a 5k last Saturday on a highly suspect course. Last year was muddy and conditions may be tough again this year if we have significant rain on Saturday. With the weekend forecast we could even be dealing with some ice on the trails by Sunday. I'm going shopping for some screws for traction tomorrow, I think there are too many place where you run on rock to go with spikes. It's supposed to be windy and cool but I'm good with the cold part and the wind shouldn't be a big issue in the woods. I've got a 90k - 95k week going over the last 6 days but plan to rest . I'm shooting for 8:30 pace as a best case, sub 9:00 as realistic. What do you think?

Like I've told you before, I'm gonna hold out for the Stinky Skunk or the Amorous Aardvark. Oh, you mean predict a finish time? This race is at sea level, right Parker? In that case my hunch is you'll run close to your best-case goal, I'll say 1:52:55. Of course that's assuming you don't get arrested for the seat-sniffing. If that should happen, my prediction changes to DNS.

Predictions? I predict you'll be arrested for sniffing bicycle seats at the junior high bike racks.
