I just signed up for the 2007 Iron Girl 5K in Tempe, AZ. I got an email from them saying that if I register by the end of this month, I get a seven buck discount off the registration fee. The other good news is that the race will now be through the city instead of around the lake, meaning that it will be a flatter course than this year's race. We'll probably still go over the bridges, as the New Times race does. Also, the race was moved from early December to late March (the 27th), which means that it won't be a week before the Tucson half marathon, so I'll be able to do both this year. But because it is so soon, I can't even think about the 10 mile event, so its 5K for me again. It's two weeks before the 4.2 mile "Pat's Run", but I think that by then, I'll be up to running two races that close together. The only downside is that it will be way before my birthday in 2007, so I'll still be in the 50-64 AG instead of the 65--69 AG.

Boy, that's a huge spread in age between 50-64. Most races have 5 year age groups in that range. Maybe if they receive enough entries, they will divide it up to be more fair. Try to relax more as you run. Doing so will help you glide right over minor things like bridges and valleys. Your stride will increase naturally (and decrease naturally on the upgrades). This is another reason I argue agains all the measuring and calculating. Let the measurement be your race performance.
